| The Beginning: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the abyss, and the Spirit of God floated over the waters. | Then God said, “Let there be a space in the middle of the waters, so that it makes a division between them.” So God made the space, and divided the waters which were under the spacefrom the waters which were above the space; God called the space Heaven. | And God said, “Gather up the water under the sky to one place and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. | And God said, “Let there be lights in the sky to separate the day from the night and so that they can serve as signs to mark holidays, days and years. Let there be lights in the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. | Dios dijo: "Que haya luces en el cielo para distinguir el día de la noche; que ellos señalen las fiestas, los días y los años, y que estén como lámparas en el cielo para iluminar la tierra".
