Going to in Spanish to Speak about the future.

Speaking about the future with going to in Spanish.

You can use the ver "ir" to speak about the future in a very similar way as we use "going to" in English.

You just need the correct form of "ir" + the infinitive of a verb. (There is always an "a" in between) EG. Voy a aprender - I am going to learn.

The verb "ir" is very irregular so I will give you a full range of examples below.

I am going to dance - voy a bailar
You are going to sing - vas a cantar
He, she, or it is going to work - Va a trabajar.
You (formal) is going to drink - Usted va a beber.
We are going to speak - Vamos a hablar.
You guys are going to read - Vais a leer.
They are going to win - Van a ganar.

The (ir + infinitive) Voy a cantar - Structure is very easy to use so it is great for anyone at a lower level of Spanish.
There is also a Spanish future tense based on adding an ending to the verb which we will studying in another lesson.
EG. cantaré = I will sing .... They will dance = bailarán

You may often hear- Me voy - This means "I'm off"or "I am going"

Note that in some of the example sentences the word order between English and Spanish is different.

No te lo voy a decir = I am not going to tell you.

For the most part this structure is very easy and with a tiny bit of effort you can say lots of things about the future in Spanish.
