Federico Garcia Lorca, Ted Hughes / Paperback / Published 1997 Synopsis: Ted Hughes translates and adapts Lorca's 20th-century classic for an English-speaking audience. The story is based on a newspaper fragment which told of a family vendetta, where the daughter of one family ran away with the son of the enemy family. Hughes's captivating version premiered at the Young Vic Theatre, London, in September 1996.
Back in print to coincide with the release of the upcoming motion
picture Death in Granada on the life of Lorca, this "monumental
biography" (New York Times) goes to the heart of his explosive genius.
When, at the age of 38, Federico Garcia Lorca was executed by anti-republican
rebels during the Spanish Civil War, he was already one of the world's
most celebrated poets and playwrights. Federico Garcia Lorca, et al / Paperback / Published 1994 Remarks: In this volume Lorca's first two great commercial
successes are coupled together. Blood Wedding was completed in 1932
and Yerma in 1934. (SA) The Cricket Sings : Poems and Songs for Children ~ Federico, Garcia Lorca, Federico Garcia Lorca / Paperback / Published 1980 Remarks: Lorca claimed he experienced the world with the
same spontaneity as when he was a child. He wrote about crickets,
snails and lizards with the same sense of wonder that can be found
in his treatment of the loftiest themes of Nature. (SA) Five Plays : Comedies and Tragicomedies ~ Federico Garcia Lorca / Paperback / Published 1964 Federico Garcia Lorca / Paperback / Published 1985 Remarks: This volume couples together two contrasting works:
La Casa de Bernarda Alba, completed in June 1936, two months before
his death, a masterpiece of poetic tragedy; and La Zapatera Prodigiosa,
started ten years earlier, a simple, fresh poetic comedy. (SA) Once Five Years Pass : And Other Dramatic Works Federico Garcia Lorca / Hardcover / Published 1990 No information: Federico Garcia Lorca / Paperback / Published 1988 Remarks: For many critics, this work represents the pinnacle of Lorca's poetic, as opposed to his dramatic, genius. (SA) Federico Garcia Lorca, Federico Garcia Lorca / Paperback / Published 1996 Remarks: In my opinion this work is a perfect and unique combination of popular Andalusian tradition with bold, innovatory poetic imagery. Federico Garcia Lorca / Paperback / Published 1981 Remarks: From his earliest published poem, written in 1918, to the last of his sonnets, written in 1936, the year of his death, Lorca's poetic production is unceasing and extrordinary in its range. (SA) Blood Wedding and Yerma (Tcg Translations, No 5) Federico Garcia Lorca, et al / Hardcover / Published 1994 Blood Wedding=(Bodas De Sangre) Brendan Kennelly (Translator), Frederico Garcia Lorca / Paperback
/ Published 1996 G. Lorca / Paperback / Published 1995 Bodas De Sangre Dona Rosita LA Soltera Y Poesia Lirica Federico Garcia Lorca, et al / Paperback / Published 1978 Remarks: This volume includes Doña Rosita la Soltera, written between Yerma and Bernarda Alba in 1935. It was his intention to write something light-hearted in contrast to the dark tragedies of the "rural trilogy". But this latest working of Lorca's "Juliet without a Romeo" theme turns out to be an intensely sad melodrama. 1986 Federico Garcia Lorca / Paperback / Published 1984 Synopsis: "Seven women, without a man, in a country house, closed down by a recent mourning, within the calcinated atmosphere of an Andalusian August.
